DesignKwartier 2014

From 16-18 May I Wait Here participated in DesignKwartier, the new festival voor slow food & design in The Hague.

In a beautiful historical building we worked for four days straight to create a space that would do justice to the work of Kirstie van Noort, Nikkie Wester and Aliki van der Kruijs. For the first time, I Wait Here was public! With over 10.000 visitors, the festival was a succes and the start of our initiative was truly a fact.

Besides our exhibition we organised a pop-up shop and hosted a design dinner in the garden of our location. The shop was filled with products by the designers as well as a lot of publications like Kinfolk, Sunday Mornings at the River and books on the exhibited projects. The dinner was prepared by Haagse Hapjes, who made nice links between food and design – either in the dish itself or in the way it was served. All in all the weekend got a lot of publicity thanks to media partner Eigen Huis & Interieur,  as well as the effort of a lot of bloggers who wrote about us and the festival in general.

Prior to the Design Dinner in the garden, I gave a personal motivation on I Wait Here and an explanation about the exhibition to our guests.

With it being such a nice experience, we are positive on participating again next year. If you came by, thank you so much for taking the effort. Didn’t make it? Looking forward to see you in 2015 or at one of our other events!
